Laura Mayo – Fabric Artist

For nearly three decades, Laura has worked as a fibre artist, transforming silk, rayon, and cotton into distinctive pieces of wearable art. Her signature technique—sun dyeing—draws directly from the natural world surrounding her home. Using botanicals gathered from her extensive gardens and the nearby forest, she captures the delicate silhouettes of leaves, ferns, flowers, and seed pods, transferring their intricate patterns onto fabric with dyes activated solely by UV light. Each piece becomes a precise, luminous impression of nature itself.

When winter arrives, Laura turns to ice, snow, and spray-dye methods to create vibrant, elegant scarves that complement her seasonal collections. She also designs coordinating scarf jewelry, hand‑selecting from hundreds of beads, crystals, and stones to craft pieces that complete each look with a unique, refined finish.

Durable, washable, and made to be cherished for years, Laura’s creations blend artistry, craftsmanship, and the quiet beauty of the natural world.
