I started my painting journey in 1989 when ‘tole painting’ was very popular. I taught lessons for a while but then life, work and family took up most of my time. I retired from ‘work’ in 2021 and finally got back to my art full time. I live in rural Renfrew, where I never run out of subjects to paint or create. This beautiful Ottawa Valley has been my muse and inspiration.
In 2018 I discovered fused glass. After taking lessons and using the instructors kiln, I decided to purchase my own kiln. I have created a lovely line of wild birds and treed landscapes. I offer watercolour classes as well as glass classes – check my website for schedules.
My favourite subjects to paint are landscapes and old stone buildings. I paint either from a reference photo or by actually being onsite to paint live – otherwise known as ‘plein air’ painting. There is so much natural beauty in this area, and living an hour away from Algonquin Park is an added bonus!
